According to the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation, over 3000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year and claims 600+ lives in one year.

The Sweet Louise Foundation was founded in 2006 by Scott Perkins in honour of his wife Louise, who lost her fight against breast cancer in 2004. Louise was only 29 years old when she was diagnosed with incurable (secondary) breast cancer. Despite the grim diagnosis, Louise continued living her with bravery and absolute positivity. She refused to allow cancer to define who she was and the remainder of her days. She became and continues to be an inspiration to those who have been diagnosed with the disease - as well as their family and friends.

For many New Zealander's with incurable breast cancer, the Sweet Louise Foundation offers:

  • Face to face and over the phone support from our team of Support Coordinators, each with experience in oncology and palliative care
  • Regular meetings to provide peer support and help build connections with others living with incurable breast cancer
  • $500 worth of service vouchers every year that can be redeemed for a comprehensive range of services, complementary therapies and support that help improve quality of life.

The Sweet Louise foundation currently supports and makes a positive difference in the lives of 580 members and operates throughout most of the North Island. The foundation also offers a strong support network for those affected by incurable breast cancer and strives to improve the quality of lives of New Zealanders diagnosed with incurable breast cancer. There is nothing more painful and saddening than watching a loved one experience the suffering and pain of this disease. Join us at the Sweet Louise Fundraiser and show support for New Zealanders with incurable breast cancer.
